This is the largest natural hot springs pool in the Eastern Sierra and has a waterfall cooling system that plummets into the larger pool as well as a hot soaking pool. We invite you to come and partake in the splendor and relaxation of this one of a kind experience. You do have to book by phone, which feels odd in this day of quick booking, but embrace it and call.Keough's Hot Springs was established in 1919 and is still used today by locals and visitors alike. It is also close to Inyo National Forest and the Bristlecone Pine part of the park. Keough Springs is close to Bishop so there is food nearby. Coming from the Southern United States where we have fire ants, the totally harmless ants gave us no pause. We were careful to keep our stuff off of the floor and not leave food around and we had no issue with the ants. There were ants that were surrounding our site and they were inside the tent some. The walk to the bathroom was not far, and we really enjoyed our dip in the pools. We had a fire pit at our disposal and a nice view of the surrounding hills. The bed was fine, and there was a fridge in our tent. This was not a luxurious accommodation, and we were not expecting it to be. The hot spring pool was included with the price of the canvas tent. We liked the price point on the canvas tents, so we booked one for the night. I read several reviews that mentioned this place was rustic, but I decided to take a chance, as frankly, most of the places in our budget around Bishop looked rustic. My husband and I took a roadtrip from Vegas to San Francisco and Keough was the place we chose for our first night. Just ignore them, and have a good time in spite of their snippy sarcastic and mean spirited attitudes. They are rude, and obviously do not care about their customers. The "children" who are working at the snack shack and pool entry are terrible and need to be sent to bed without their supper. The staff serving the campground and store are wonderful, friendly and helpful and attentive. The bathing facility offers a large hot springs pool that comes up to your chin if you sit down in it, and a very large cool pool for swimming.
#Keough’s hot springs generator#
I liked that there weren't any huge rigs here, and I never heard a generator once. One toilet and shower facility serves the entire campground, which is not large (maybe 30 sites total and 4 yurts) but walking distance to the toilet may be a factor in which site you choose if you are older or traveling with kids and aren't in a self contained rig. There are also "dry camping" spots, as well as yurts available. There are sites with lots of shady trees for RV's and tent campers, some have hookups while others don't. This trip I stayed at the campground for 3 nights, and I highly recommend it. Last time I visited here, it was just to soak and swim.
